Coffee and Letters Ep. 43 - (A MiChaeng FF Story feat. SaiDa) SEASON ONE FINALE

Coffee and Letters Ep. 43 - (A MiChaeng FF Story feat. SaiDa)

Atty. Leeteuk: Thank you, Ms. Myoui, Ms. Son.

**Atty. Leeteuk said after he tucked the documents that Mina and Chaeyoung signed in his briefcase. They meet at Atty. Min’s office to discuss everything written on the agreement.**

Mina: Thank you, Atty.

**Then Atty. Leeteuk headed to the exit with a smile on his face.**

**Mina spoke again after Atty. Leeteuk disappeared in their sight.**

Mina: When will Bam be out of the country, Atty.?

Atty. Min: They will release him two days from now, and officers will escort him to the airport to make sure he’ll exit the country.

**Mina nodded and squeeze Chaeyoung’s hand.**

Mina: Thank you, Atty. You never disappoint.

Atty. Min: You know it’s always my pleasure to serve your family, Ms. Myoui. Anything you need, just call me, okay?

Mina: I will, Atty. Thank you again. Anyway, we’ll go now.

**Mina stood up and pulled Chaeyoung with her, which instantly push Atty. Min to his feet, too. He extends his hand and Mina grasps it immediately before they exited the door.**

Chaeng: Thank you.

**Chaeng whispered beside Mina.**

Mina: Thank you for what?

Chaeng: For taking care of everything. If I don’t have you, I don’t know what to do.

**Mina stopped in the middle of the lobby, which forced Chaeng to cease, too.**

Mina: No. If you don’t have me, these things won’t happen to you. You’re still living in peace.

**Chaeng sighed, yet tightened her grip on Mina’s hand even more.**

Chaeng: I don’t see it like that. And I don’t regret meeting you, even if it almost killed me. I know I’ve said this to you many times, but I won’t get tired of reminding you about it.

**Mina pressed her lips and smiled.**

Mina: Thank you, Chaeng.

Chaeng: Hmm… you’re so cool there. Do you know that?

Mina: Cool? What do you mean, cool?

Chaeng: You know. You know what question to ask. Or what things to say.

**Both of them continued to walk towards the main door, still holding each other’s hand.**

Chaeng: It’s like my girlfriend’s a gangster, you know. Strong and cool.

Mina: Hey!

**Chaeng giggled.**

Chaeng: Just kidding. I love you so much.

**Mina tilted her head towards Chaeng, who’s staring at her with lips twitched lopsidedly.**

Mina: I love you, too.

**After seeing Sana at the Bamboo Hut Restaurant, Officer Kim worked several hours tracing where she could find her. Where she works or even lives. Being a technology geek and working in the police force made it easier for her to get the information she needs. So as a start, she drove to the building where Sana is working. It only took her an hour to spot Sana exit the building.**

Officer Hwang: Oh, is that her?

**Officer Hwang asked as Sana waits for the green light at the pedestrian. They parked their car several meters away from where she’s standing and just stayed there until she appeared in their sight. **

Officer Hwang: Why don’t you get out of the car and follow her?

**Officer Kim was following Sana with her eyes until she crossed the street and pulled the door of a coffee shop, right across the building she came out with. **

Officer Kim: And what do you want me to say to her? That I’m in the neighborhood? Isn’t it obvious that I just met the other day and here I am bumping into her again?

Officer Hwang: So, what exactly is the reason we’re here? Just to watch her cross the street and buy her coffee?

Officer Kim: Maybe? I’m fine with this. You know she has someone with her now. Remember the girl who’s holding her hand at the restaurant?

Officer Hwang: Oh, so we’re just wasting our time here. I stopped my report that’s due after lunch just to be your driver and watch you spy on someone you love since high school?

Officer Kim: Fine!

**She said with a low voice.**

**Getting out of the car isn’t part of her plan, but sitting inside until she crossed the pedestrian again isn’t also part of her day. So, she unfastened her seatbelt and took a deep breath before she gets out of the car.**

**Her left hand stayed at the door handle for several minutes. Still weighing if this is the right thing for her to do. Greeting Ms. Minatozaki in a coffee shop. She’d never been so nervous in her entire life, given that she faces notorious criminals almost every day. This is more frightening than risking your life in operations. She thought.**

Officer Kim: Fine! We can do this. Just like what you did in the Bamboo Restaurant. You just walked in and introduced yourself. Just like that. So, get your feet on the ground and walk. For Pete’s sake!

**She murmured.**

**She let go of the door handle and marched towards the pedestrian to cross the road. She heaved for another sigh. It’s now different from their scene at the restaurant. This time, she no longer has an alibi if they’ll cross their path again.**

**She pushed the door and saw Sana at the back of the line, attention on her phone.**

Officer Kim: Ms. Sana?

**She pretended to be surprised at their sudden encounter, though her heart’s drumming so heavily and her hands and feet are chilling at this heated afternoon.**

**Sana whirled and greeted by a familiar face, wearing a black suit and a smile that made her smile, too.**

Sana: Hi, Dahyun! It’s the first time I saw you here, huh?

**She said cheerfully.**

**Officer Kim got startled by Sana’s remark. Of course, it’s her first time to enter that coffee shop since she doesn’t work on the field, rather on her own space at the station playing with her computer and other gadgets to solve cases.**

Officer Kim: Oh, yeah. My partner and I just craved for some caffeine.

Sana: Partner?

**Her eyes widened. Does it mean… girlfriend? She thought.**

Officer Kim: Uhm… partner, as in partner in solving cases. I’m a… I’m a police officer.

**Sana giggled. Couldn’t believe how this going out with Tzuyu is affecting the way she sees things around her.**

Sana: Sorry. I thought about something else. Anyway, you’re a police officer?

Officer Kim: Hmm… yeah. Who would ever think that a piano girl in middle school will end up as a police officer?

**Her smile never left her.**

Sana: That’s exactly what I’m thinking right now. I mean, you’re this cute little girl who smiles a lot when we’re in middle school, and honestly, it looks like you don’t change even a little. You still wear the same smile you used to wear whenever I see you in the lobby.

Officer Kim: You… you remember me back then? I mean, remembering my name is already astonishing for me. But telling me those things makes it more, you know, unbelievable.

**Sana giggled. Even she couldn’t explain the reason for that.**

Sana: Anyway, what do you want? On me.

**Officer Kim shook her head. This should be on her since she’s the one chasing her and not the other way around.**

Sana: Oh… I don’t take no for an answer. Besides, I’m not giving you an option.

**She winked, which melted Officer Kim even more. Standing next to her, reminiscing about their middle school days is already enough for her, but this, this winking is more than she needs.**

Officer Kim: O—okay.

Bam: What happened, Atty.? Did they sign it?

**Bam asked, not blinking even once. His forehead almost touching the glass division between him and Atty. Leeteuk.**

**As always, Atty. Leeteuk wears his deadpan expression with his upright position.**

Atty. Leeteuk: They did. I’ll process your release today, and you’ll have your freedom again in two days.

**Bam hit the table with both hands and slammed his back on his seat. It is indeed the greatest news he’d ever receive in a couple of weeks.**

Atty. Leeteuk: But that also means leaving the country within the week, and not coming back. Or else they’ll put you in jail again.

**Bam leaned forward again.**

Bam: Of course, Atty. I no longer want to step into this place ever again. This is the worst thing that happened to me.

**Atty. Leeteuk nodded.**

Atty. Leeteuk: Good. I’ll process everything that you need for your flight. By the way, they will escort you to the airport to make sure that you won’t do something that will break your agreement.

**Bam sighed heavily before he answered.**

Bam: Of course, Atty. What choice do I have? By the way, do you hear something from my dad? Is he still mad at me?

**Atty. Leeteuk smirked, and that reaction he got from Atty. Leeteuk lightened the heaviness he’s carrying in his chest.**

Atty. Leeteuk: He’s glad about the result of the agreement. He said he’ll be waiting for you at the airport.

**Bam hit the table with the side of his fist again.**

Bam: That one is the best, Atty. That one is the best.

*****

**It’s been a while since Mina visited Jeong at the columbarium. So instead of driving straight to her house after meeting Atty. Min and Atty. Leeteuk, she asked Chaeng if it’s okay to visit her ex-fiancé. Chaeng just smiled at her question. Besides, Mina isn’t the only one visiting Jeong. It will be the two of them ‘cause Mina wants to introduce Chaeng to her ex-lover.**

**Mina grabbed Chaeng on her elbow, yet looking straight at Jeong’s ash. Chaeng stayed close to her side, staring at her lover’s old love.**

Mina: I’m here again, love.

**She whispered, calling her old love the name they used to call each other. Chaeng’s lips twitched on the side.**

Mina: But I’m no longer alone. I’m with someone. Remember the one I told you the last time I came here? I’m with her now.

**Then her hand slid on Chaeng’s arm to reach for her hand and tilted her head to meet Chaeng’s eyes.**

Mina: She’s a nice person, and she treats me well, too. She makes me breakfast in the morning and helps me with the groceries. And what I like the most about her is, she writes wonderful stories.

**Her smile made her eyes so small that sent butterflies into Chaeng’s inside. Then she returned her gaze to Jeong’s ash as if having eye contact with her.**

Mina: I know leaving me alone worries you so much, but now, you don’t have to worry about me anymore. But that doesn’t mean I’m forgetting you, love. You will always remain in me. It’s just, I have Chaeyoung now. And I’m sure wherever you are, you’re smiling.

**She paused and just stared at the jar in front of them.**

Chaeng: I… I’m not sure if I could be as best as you are. I mean, the way you took care of Mina when you’re together. But I’ll promise you one thing. I’ll be the best of who am I so I could be the best for Mina, too.

**Mina didn’t expect Chaeng to say something to her former fiancé. For the short time they’ve been together, it’s so unlikely for her to talk about what she feels. Hence to someone she never met yet. But this sudden change in her lover warms her heart, and acknowledging Jeong means a lot to her.**

**Chaeng gazed at her.**

Chaeng: Hmm… do you think she’ll approve it? I’m kind of nervous that she won’t, you know.

**Mina giggled. The seriousness of the atmosphere suddenly fades away.**

Mina: Of course, she will. Jeong is so easy to talk to. And I’m sure she’s happy to see you. At least she knows now that I’m with someone.

**Chaeng puffed and her shoulders fell.**

Chaeng: I didn’t expect to be so nervous like this. It’s like I’m talking to someone who’s staring at me from head to toe.

Mina: But it more surprised me to hear you talk like that. It honestly warms my heart.

**Chaeng pulled Mina’s both hand, and they ended up facing each other.**

Chaeng: Hmm… that. I guess it just slipped from my mouth. I mean, I only let the things inside me get out. Anyway, you think it’s okay to kiss in front of her?

**Chaeng side glanced at Jeong’s photo, and Mina shook her head, smiling.**

Chaeng: Oh, okay. We’ll do that at home.
