**That last call from Mina worries her so much. Mina said nothing to her, but she could feel how furious she was about what she had heard.**

Chaeng: If only I knew this would happen, I shouldn’t have told her everything! I should have just lied. Isn’t it better to lie, Mina? That was a long time ago. Why does it still matter?

**She whispered while hugging her shin on the floor of their kitchen, crying.**

**She messed up, and she knows that. But how could she win Mina’s trust again?**

**Then someone opened the door of the fridge, which caught her attention for a while. It’s mom in her pajamas, pulling two cans of beer.**

**Mom almost dropped the cans when she turned to her left before she closed the fridge.**

Chaeng’s Mom: My gosh, Chaeyoung! What are you doing there?

**She blurted out, holding her chest.**

Chaeng: Mom.

**Chaeng answered quickly.**

Chaeng’s Mom: Are you crying, honey?

**Chaeng hid her face between her knees. She’s crying, and she has no strength to stop herself from this non-stop thing.**

**Mom walked towards Chaeng and sat beside her.**

Chaeng’s Mom: What happened?

Chaeng: Mom. Mina went back to Japan.

**Her voice was still weak, though she already unhid her face and leaned her back at the counter cabinet.**

Chaeng’s Mom: What? What happened? Why would she go back to Japan?

Chaeng: I messed up, mom. I don’t know why you didn’t receive it, but her parents did. Someone filmed us kissing and sent it to her parents and our agency.

**Chaeng no longer cares what her mom would think about her story. All she wants right now is to release whatever burden she has inside.**

Chaeng: Her parents flew here and picked her up.

Chaeng’s Mom: What did the agency say? Aren’t they doing anything about it?

Chaeng: It hasn’t leaked yet. So, they couldn’t take any action, and they couldn’t figure out who did it.

**Mom sighed.**

Chaeng’s Mom: Dad and I actually received it, honey. But we didn’t make it a big deal since we already knew about you and Mina, even though you’re not yet telling us what you really are. The only concern we have is when the public sees it. How will you face it? That kind of thing.

Chaeng: And you didn’t tell me?

Chaeng’s Mom: We don’t know when you’ll come back. Besides, dad already tried to trace who it was. He even paid someone to track it, but got no luck. I think he’s still working on it.

Chaeng: Tell dad there’s no need to do that, mom. I knew who sent it. I already knew who did it. She’s a friend.

Chaeng’s Mom: A friend? Are you kidding me? Who is it?

**Chaeng shook her head.**

Chaeng’s Mom: No need to know who it is, mom. She has no other plan than to see me and Mina break up. It’s the purpose of that thing.

**Mom opened the beer in her hand and handed it to Chaeng. Chaeng stared at her, bewildered.**

Chaeng’s Mom: Get it! It’s fine. This is the best time for a beer.

**She winked and let out a quick smile.**

Chaeng’s Mom: I don’t know why you have this unbelievable charm, honey. I’m guessing that friend likes you so much.

**Then both of them took their first gulp.**

Chaeng’s Mom: You’re such a chick magnet, like your dad. You know what, when we were younger, wherever we go, girls always turn their heads towards him. But I’m glad he always grabs me by my waist to tell the world that I’m the one.

Chaeng: Does that make you jealous?

Chaeng’s Mom: All the time, honey. Sometimes I don’t talk to him because I’m so mad that everyone likes him, but then I realized why would I? He knows what he wants, and it’s me.

**Then she laughed, and it echoed in the entire room.**

Chaeng’s Mom: Does Mina know all of this? I mean, that you already knew this someone who sent the video?

Chaeng: Yes, mom. I even told her I used to go out with that girl. And that...

**She paused.**

**No, I need to skip that drunk night to mom. She might have the same reaction, like Mina. I’ll just keep it to myself for now.**

Chaeng: And that this girl thought there’s something between us. You know, more than friends.

Chaeng’s Mom: You talked and went out with her, and you didn’t expect that she’ll think she’s special to you?

Chaeng: But...

Chaeng’s Mom: Come on, honey! I know you’re still young, but you should always and always put your feet in someone’s shoes. That will help you be more cautious.

**Mom’s right. That will help her a lot.**

Chaeng: I’m sorry. I’m sorry if sometimes I’m so irresponsible.

**She sighed and stared at the beer in her hand.**

Chaeng: Now Mina’s no longer talking to me. She’s thinking the same. That I have a thing for that girl. That something other than talking happened.

Chaeng’s Mom: Hmm... I might think the same thing if I’m Mina.

**She took another gulp of her beer.**

Chaeng’s Mom: Do you really love her? I mean, are you willing to do everything for?

**Chaeng turned her head to mom. Why is she asking me these questions? She thought.**

Chaeng’s Mom: If you’ll ask me, I’d fly to Japan and win her back. If you really love her.

Chaeng: But I have obligations here too, mom. Our schedules are full this week and next week.

Chaeng’s Mom: I know, honey.

**She turned to look at Chaeng’s eyes.**

Chaeng’s Mom: But, are these things worthy enough to let something slip from your hand? Something you really love?

**That question hit her so hard. Mom’s right. Is it worth losing Mina for something that she could get in another lifetime? But she worked so hard for this dream, too, which makes it so hard to decide if she’ll fly to Japan or not.**

Chaeng’s Mom: I think your boss will understand. Just make a great excuse, so they’ll let it pass. Tell them I gave you my permission to bring Mina back. I don’t think they could afford to lose Mina, too!

**Then mom pushed herself up with an empty can of beer in her hand.**

Chaeng: What if she won’t give me another chance, mom?

Chaeng’s Mom: What if she will, honey? Will you be able to get the answers you need if you’re wasting your time sitting here and crying?
